SEA GIRT - A State Police recruit is in critical condition after he lost consciousness during a boxing exercise Wednesday, New Jersey State Police wrote in a Facebook post . The unnamed 27-year-old recruit was training at the Sea Girt Borough facility and was "engaged in an active countermeasures/boxing bout with a fellow classmate" when he lost consciousness, the post read. Once the recruit lost consciousness, the academy staff "immediately stopped the exercise, rendered first aid and contacted emergency medical services to respond," according to the post.  Law enforcement:   Body cameras now required for police, but there's no money to buy them The recruit was taken to a local hospital where next page he was listed in critical condition. The recruit's family was immediately notified and met with state police personnel and medical staff at the hospital, according to the post. The State Police Academy temporarily suspended active countermeasures/boxing while the incident is being reviewed. No further information was immediately available.
